Google Introduces New Adsense Management Code

Recently I went to ‘Adsense Set-up’ to create new block of code, and I noticed there was an extra step before I was able to access the copy and paste box. It was an Adsense unit name that helps you manage your code from inside your Adsense account. This seems like a good move by google and something that was sorely missing from the Adsense program.

How will this new ad unit management change for adsense publishers? Well, now you only need to copy and paste the code into your page once, and if you want to make any additional changes (i.e. like the color, or size of the ads) you can do that from within your account. This saves you from having to generate new code each time you want to make changes to the presentation of the adsense block. So if you were running a 468×60 ad block, and you wondered if a larger block might work, you just have to change it from the ad unit management and it’ll show up on your site.

The only caveat I found with the new system, is that it takes about 10 mins or so for your ads to show once you paste in the new ad unit code. Not really a huge problem for most sites. Also, remember this isn’t a true ad management system by which you’ll be able to move the placement around your site. You’ll still have to do that manually by moving the code block into different sections (i.e. header, sidebar, etc.) for your website.

Overall, a good improvement for Google Adsense that will help us publishers.
