Google has added a new policy regarding Display URLS on their Adwords ads that will be effective April 1. The new policy basically states that your ad display URL has to match your landing page URL. Before, you could basically put any display URL that you wanted regardless of the actual URL that you were brought to after you clicked.
So what does this mean to Affiliate Advertisers? Well, this news basically puts the definitive nail in the “direct-link-to-advertiser” coffin. I see a lot of websites popping up that claim you can work from home by typing out some forms or doing data entry. Some of them will claim you can work for just 30 minutes and make up to $1000 a day from home. So are these at home jobs really too good to be true?
In short - the answer is yes. Although with the information they provide, you can potentially make that kind of money, the way they present their information package is VERY misleading. So while they aren’t total scams, you probably will find it’s not what you anticipated because of one very small but important detail they like to omit - you have to PAY money when you submit these “data entry” forms.

In a somewhat strange news from Yahoo Search Marketing, they have lowered the minimum search bids to below 10 cents, but kept the minimum content bids at 10 cents. On the one hand, it’s good news because now you can get even lower cost per clicks from search results providing that your quality score is good.
The read head-scratcher here is why the content remains at 10 cents. If anything, the minimum cost for content network traffic should be lower than that of search. The reason being that the traffic from the content network is in general, lower quality. The clicks are coming from people passively viewing other websites with Yahoo publisher ads and are often fill with “curious” seekers rather than active searchers. Using adwords, you can sometimes get lots of content traffic with 1 cent bids, but you are usually stuck with a minimum of 5 cents for search traffic.
So what does this mean for Search Marketing publishers? A chance for lower costs for Yahoo search traffic, but no change in the content bids, at least for now. Adwords still remains your best bed if you want extremely low-cost traffic.

I stumbled upon this pretty neat service that lets you monetize your website images. It is called BritePic and it is owned by the advertising company AdBrite.
Basically, what the service does is use the image currently hosted on your website and adds it to a flash movie that is hosted on the BritePic server. It will produce new block of HTML code to add to your page replacing the usual <img> tag, and now your photo will display with some spiffy flash features Read more »
In case you were unaware, there’s a new social networking site called Yuwie that will pay it’s users a portion of their advertising income. Think of it as a Myspace or Facebook clone but you get paid to use it.
While the percentage they pay to you is very small, they do have a referral system that allows you to get paid a percentage for every person you refer as well. Below I have taken a screen cap of my account showing the the number of levels and the payment percentage for each one.
Probably one of the most difficult parts of increasing your website’s Google pagerank is getting quality backlinks. A backlink is when a hyperlink on another website links to yours. Think of it as basically a voting system. Every website that links to your site is considered a vote and thus making it “more important” in the eyes of the search engines.
Many people suggest writing to the webmaster’s of sites with high page rank to get them to include your link. Well, I say boo to that! To me, this is just another form of spamming. I get these “link request” emails for sites I run and they always seem like the person is begging even if the site they have a good website. 99% of the time these requests get ignored.
