To start creating a SEO (Search Engine Optimized) web page, you must know what types of keywords you want a higher rank for. Utilize the keyword suggestions that hittail has produced for your website. These are keywords that have a high search volume, but are in the long-tail of your website (meaning you aren’t getting as many hits as you could).
Your goal will be to create an article that has a better relevancy (according to the search engines) for a particular keyword phrase so it ranks higher on the search engines.
- Once you have identified keywords or keyword phrases that will bring in more traffic to your site, think about or research an article using those keywords.
- When writing your article, make sure to use the keywords in the body of the document.
- You don’t want to “keyword stuff” your article as this may result in a negative penalty from the Search engines, but they should be mentioned a few times in the article. Ideally, the keywords should appear somewhere in first paragraph of your article, a few times throughout the body and towards the end.
- Punctuation between keyword phrases does not matter. For example, if your keyword phrase was “Hotels in Miami.” You could have a sentence that ends with the word ‘hotels,’ and the next sentence could start with ‘In Miami…’ The search engines just see the proximity of the words and ignore punctuation.
- Sometimes bolding the keywords when necessary in the document can help.
- When your article is ready to be published, put the keywords somewhere in the title of your article, ideally towards the beginning.
- Also put your keywords in the ‘Meta Description’ tag when summarizing what your article is about.
- Finally, add the keywords to your document tags.

I totally agree with everything here but suggest try to strive for niche topics, if you were aiming for the keyword ’seo’ for example it’s to broad and your site or artilce will just get lost amongst the competion out there.
While I don’t really agree with the meta description part, everything else is spot on. The ignoring punctuation thing is a clever take on this that I’ve never heard, though.
